March: Spirit of Fes Foundation Announces Its Projects for 2013

The Spirit of Fes Foundation not only organises the Fes Festival of World Sacred Music, but also initiates and develops cultural events to conserve and promote heritage. Last Friday evening, 1 March, the Foundation announced its current activities and the programme for the Fes Festival.

Some 140 journalists and friends of the Festival gathered at the Sofitel Palais Jamai to hear that the opening concert will be entitled Love is my religion.

Laila Skali, Director of Strategy and Development at the Foundation, explained that 'This year the opening concert will illustrate the Festival's theme of Andalusia and will firmly place the Festival in a creative space. The concert will be a veritable artistic explosion which will uniquely bring together art and the tools of today's technological prowess in projection, meaning that this will be an unforgettable event.'

As far as current projects are concerned, the Foundation's head office, Dar Tazi, will be augmented by a multi-purpose building that will serve as a cultural café as well as a space for the Foundation to hold meetings, talks and exhibitions during the Festival and throughout the year.

A presentation by Catherine Bendayan on Fes and the Festival of World Sacred Music

What a magnificent evening it was!

We had a passionate discussion that went beyond the usual subjects, exploring the early days and the development of this outstanding festival, where a unique ambiance is created by the combination of music, spirituality and cultural exchange.

After the screening of two films, Catherine Bendayan, Director of the Festival in France, enchanted the audience with music and a tour of the alleyways of the Fes medina. Everyone wished they could be in this magical city.

During the evening, some 20 people signed up for the festival: they will be ambassadors for exchange, dialogue and information between our communities. Co-presidents of AJMF Paris, Dr Patrick Conquy and Me Schéhérazade Zerouala, explained that these are the principles of the association.
