The Spirit of Fes Foundation, a non-profit association, was inaugurated in Fes on 24 September 2005

The Foundation, which is to act on both a national and international level, has as its mission statement :

• To initiate, coordinate, plan and present, from the basis of culture, various activities that will benefit the city of Fes and its culture, in particular the development of its cultural tourism.

In this way, the Foundation will contribute to :

• the promotion of the image of the city of Fes as a cultural destination on a national and international level, as well as Morocco as a whole, under the name ‘Spirit of Fes’ which will be disseminated across the world.

• the production and development of the Fes Festival of World Sacred Music and the city’s Colloquium, Les Rencontres de Fes: Giving Soul to Globalisation.

• the initiation, creation and development of any activity or programme (Festivals, Colloquia or any other form of cultural event) that will by definition benefit the cultural life of Fes.

• the initiation, creation and development of any activity or programme (Festivals, Colloquia or any other form of cultural event, either associative, public, individual or institutional) that will by definition promote on a national and international level the image of Fes as a centre for peace, and intercultural dialogue between civilisations.

• the organisation, directly or in partnership with schools or training institutions, of teaching or training in cultural management, in project development, in diplomacy and intercultural governance and in general in any discipline that coincides with the objectives of the Foundation.

• the instigation and development of a system of cooperation and partnership with all national and international institutions and associations concerned with cultural projects and the objectives that the Foundation proposes to promote, present, put in place or develop.

The Spirit of Fes Foundation establishes a spirit of cooperation and partnership not only for the Festival but also for other cultural activities developed by the Foundation throughout the year.
