Born in the USA , Barbara Hendricks began her career in 1974 at the San Francisco Opera. In the same year she performed at the Glyndebourne Festival in England . She has pursued her career on the great opera stages of the world: the Paris Opera, Covent Garden , Metropolitan Opera, La Scala. She has more than 20 operatic roles under her belt, has recorded twelve, and sales of her albums are amongst the highest of the lyrical singers.

Barbara Hendricks is considered one of the most eminent and active performers of her generation, and the greatest pianists have accompanied her. She has sung a long and varied repertoire with many of the most renowned conductors and orchestras.

In 1998, she founded the Barbara Hendricks Foundation for Peace and Reconciliation, in her battle for the prevention of world conflict, to facilitate reconciliation and encourage peace.

The Baroque Ensemble of Drottningholm was founded in 1971 and is one of the most well-known performers of baroque music in the world. They have performed the works of Handel, Bach, Telemann and many others on the most prestigious stages of Europe , the Far East , the USA and Australia . The musicians only play old instruments, and of the many recordings they have made, their interpretation of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons is considered one of the best
