Essence of time, Spirit of place
From dawn till late into the night from 1-10 June, the Spirit of Fes Foundation offers debate, exhibitions, the discovery of monuments, workshops for the youth … and of course, music.
Music, above all. This annual gathering – the essence of time that permeates the whole city and energises the Spirit of place – renews the connection between an event – the Festival of World Sacred Music – and an historical place: Fes . To preserve such a place, it’s necessary first to give it life and rhythm that correspond to its essence. Sacred music, the profound character of the Festival, has a special resonance at the Batha Museum , at Bab al Makina, Boujloud Square , Dar Tazi …
Music, yes. But also time for reflection and sharing important themes: how to live today with modernity that becomes more and more intrusive? How to marry this modernity with sacred values such as faith, culture and heritage: these are the principle discussion points this year at the Fes Rencontres.
