Plenary
Sessions:
08 : 45 a.m - 12 : 30 p.m
at the Batha Museum
As
human beings, we should be able to
create strategies for establishing
and maintaining peace just as we have
strategies for waging war.
What
role can spirituality, democracy,
the media, education and development
in all its forms have today in the
genesis of peace? Men and women around
the globe, through their vision and
personal engagement, can play a role
of mediation and create political
and indeed spiritual conditions to
facilitate the coexistence of peoples
and cultures who long to be not only
peaceful but also creative.

Topic: Language, spirit and the
symbolism of gesture
|
| |
Part One: Georges Stobbaerts,
founder of TenChi Tessen,
considers this form of martial
art as a path to find the
self. The TenChi Tessen movements
are not just a technique,
nor even a dance. They are
found within the borders
of a much greater construction
than man and stimulate new
thought on education, exposing
the mechanical vision on
which it usually rests. Ten and Chi represent
Heaven and Earth, recalling
the unity of body-mind, where
the gesture lives completely
in the present, here and
now.
Part Two: Beginning with short
sequences demonstrating Bharatanatyam
(the sacred dance of southern India),
Katia Légeret-Manochhaya
will present four teaching methods
showing the charisma to be found
today in this Indian dance, according
to inter-university artistic research
on the ties between cultures in
northern countries
